Here are explanations for the options shown above.

Message Log Filter These options apply only to the Message Log.

• Message. Check this option if you want to include MESSAGE information in the message logs. Uncheck this option if you don't want this information.
• Alert. Check this option if you want to include ALERT information in the message logs. Uncheck this option if you don't want this information.
• Warning. Check this option if you want to include WARNING information in the message logs. Uncheck this option if you don't want this information.
• Alarm. Check this option if you want to include ALARM information in the message logs. Uncheck this option if you don't want this information.
• Timeout. Check this option if you want to include TIMEOUT information in the message logs. Uncheck this option if you don't want this information.
• Error. Check this option if you want to include ERROR information in the message logs. Uncheck this option if you don't want this information.
• Fail. Check this option if you want to include FAIL information in the message logs. Uncheck this option if you don't want this information.

Custom Log Filter
A Custom Log can be created as a subset of the Event Log by specifying a set of inclusive filter strings that are matched against current Event Log contents line by line to produce a subset "Custom Log".

The string filters behave like the "blocked name list" in the site analysis mode, but are meant to include lines from the event log rather than exclude them. Each line in the string filter file contains one search item; the file can contain multiple search item lines (logical OR). If the a line in the file has an included blank, then the match is done on the string including the blank. Each line of the Event Log is searched in its entirety; no Event Log fields are left out.

Caution: Too narrow a search will not match anything, and the Custom Log subset of the Event Log will then be empty. Too broad a search will effectively reproduce the Event Log in the Custom Log. Experiment to get the right effect.

• String Filter File. This is the file that contains the set of strings that are to be matched against the Event Log to produce the Custom Log.
• Browse. You can use the browser dialog to choose which filter file to use. You can save the file for later use or choose a different file as the filter.
• Edit. This brings up the current string filter file in your editor (defined in another part of the preferences).
• Case Sensitive. Check this option if you want the comparisons to be case sensitive. Uncheck this option to accept matches independent of case.
• Omit inter-test markers. If you choose this option then eValid will NOT write inter-test markers into the custom logfile. Otherwise it does.

  You may wish to exclude the inter-test markers to simplify monitoring operation or to provide a very compact custom logfile that contains minimum extra material.
